NEW memories are about to be made in one of Adelaide’s most sought after spots for three generations of a local family.
They yesterday became the new owners of a $1.6 million two-storey home in the leafy eastern suburb of St Peters.
Located adjacent to the CBD with the serenity of backing on to the River Torrens, the family, formerly of Rostrevor, in the north east, was looking forward to the convenience, quietness and bike rides at Linear Park.
“The house is beautiful,” one of the family members said.
She did not want to be named
“We love the area... and (have) a lot of friends in St Peters as well.”
The solid-brick home, with landscaped gardens was built in 1990 but was renovated in 2013.
A grand entry leads to a formal lounge and separate formal dining room, while an open plan kitchen and family meals area is positioned in the back corner of the home.
A spacious family room and cinema room provide additional living space, as the home boasts six bedrooms — one downstairs and five upstairs — the master with an updated ensuite, walk in robe and private balcony.
The family had not wanted a swimming pool, which narrowed down their search for a house in the area.
“The backyard — you would not expect such a big backyard in this suburb,” she said.
“It’s just blank and we can do a lot of stuff.
“There’s still room for improvement.”
The sun was shining yesterday as a Belle Property auctioneer began the bidding at $1.55 million.
The couple didn’t expect they would buy the property but were the sole bidder and agreed to meet the reserve of $1.6 million.
“Hopefully we will enjoy what it has to offer,” she said.
