Mum who poisoned ex-boyfriends porridge and strangled him jailed for 115 years
The court has sentenced a woman to 115 years in prison for the murder of her former boyfriend. Heidi Marie Littlefield, 42, was found guilty of murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder after a seven-day trial in Hamilton County, Indiana, US.
The victim, Francis Kelley, was found dead in January 2021. The prosecution stated that he had been strangled while acute fentanyl intoxication was listed as a contributing factor to his death.
Text messages found on Kelley’s mobile and iPad indicated that Littlefield had been to his home in the days before he was found dead. They were in the middle of a custody battle regarding their two-year-old child. Littlefield allegedly contemplated various ways of killing Kelley before deciding to buy fentanyl from drug dealers in Ohio with her 23-year-old daughter, Logan Runyon.
Runyon testified that they attempted to poison Kelley’s food multiple times. On the third attempt, they found him struggling to breathe and subsequently strangled him with his tie. Littlefield had also allegedly given money to Runyon’s former boyfriend to hire a hitman, but the couple spent the money on drugs, clothes, and hotels.
Runyon pleaded guilty to conspiracy to murder and was sentenced to 26 years in jail, while Littlefield’s daughter’s former boyfriend received a 10-year sentence for conspiracy to murder after pleading guilty. As part of Runyon’s plea agreement, she agreed to testify against Littlefield.
This horrific crime has resulted in devastating consequences, with multiple lives impacted by the actions of Littlefield and those involved in the conspiracy.
