One Year Without Glee Where Are They Now?
After six seasons of the hit television show Glee, the final episode aired on March 20, 2015. After one year without the show, we are taking a look at where the cast is now.
Lea Michele
Lea Michele played the ambitious Rachel Berry throughout all six seasons of the show. Since then she has released her second book You First and starred on the new show Scream Queens. Michele was offered the role of Hester and she accepted the offer without hearing any details of the show besides the title. It has been confirmed that she will also return for the second season. Michele is also currently working on her second studio album.
Kevin McHale
Kevin McHale portrayed Artie Abrams during all six seasons. He was the only cast member to appear in every single episode up until the 105th episode Opening Night. He is now hosting his own comedy panel game show Virtually Famous in the UK. There have currently been three seasons of the show, which also stars Chris Stark and Seann Walsh. McHale is also one of the four hosts of Sick of My Voice Show on Dash Radio.
Amber Riley
Amber Riley played the diva Mercedes Jones during all six seasons. She currently owns her own plus-size online clothing store Rileyland Fashions with her sister Ashley Riley. Since the end of Glee, Riley has starred in the television movie My One Christmas Wish as Jackie Turner and The Wiz Live! as Addaperle The Good Witch Of The North. It was recently announced that she is going to play Effie White in the West End production of Dreamgirls.
Chris Colfer
Chris Colfer portrayed Kurt Hummel in all six seasons of the show. Since the final episode, he has made an appearance on Hot in Cleveland and starred in the film Noel. In 2015, Colfer released the fourth book in The Land of Stories series titled The Land Of Stories: Beyond The Kingdoms. He has also contributed to the Doodle 4 NF charity, which is an annual fundraiser for the Neurofibromatosis Network. In June of last year, he revealed that T-shirts inspired by his The Land of Stories series would be sold to benefit First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise that provides brand-new books to kids in need. He sold almost 31,000 T-shirts.
Jenna Ushkowitz
Jenna Ushkowitz played Tina Cohen-Chang during all six seasons. Since then, she has founded Kindred: The Foundation for Adoption with her friend Samantha Futerman. They created the foundation to provide international and domestic adoptees and their families (both adoptive and biological) with services such as travel, translation, and support for those who wish to reunite. She also played the lead character, Julia Sullivan, in The Wedding Singer at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. Ushkowitz has been cast as the voice of Ms. Guided in the upcoming animated film Captain Underpants. She has also been cast as Maria in the film reboot of the musical Hello Again. In 2015, Ushkowitz executive produced the documentary Twinsters, which showed the story of Samantha Futerman and her identical twin Anaïs, who got separated at birth. She now has her own podcast called Infinite Positivities where she takes topics from her book Choosing Glee and speaks with actors, authors and experts about how to live life with a positive outlook.
Matthew Morrison
Matthew Morrison portrayed the Glee Club director Will Schuester for six seasons. From the final episode of Glee to January 2016, Morrison starred in the lead role of J.M. Barrie in the Broadway production of Finding Neverland. He also appeared in the films Playing It Cool and Underdogs. He currently plays the recurring role of Connor Fox on the TV show The Good Wife.
Jane Lynch
Jane Lynch played the tough coach of the Cheerios, Sue Sylvester, for all six seasons. Since 2013, Lynch has been hosting her own game show, Hollywood Game Night. The show, which has won an Emmy, had its fourth season premiere on January 5, 2016. The actress has also made appearances on Girl Meets World and Portlandia. Lynch played the lead character on Angel from Hell, which aired on CBS until it was canceled last month. She is currently filming the upcoming movie The Late Bloomer, which also stars Johnny Simmons and Brittany Snow.
Harry Shum, Jr.
Harry Shum, Jr. played Mike Chang during all six seasons. Since Glee, he starred in the movies Fire City: End of Days as Frank and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny as Wei-Fang. The actor also plays the warlock Magnus Bane on Freeform’s newest television show Shadowhunters. The show was recently renewed for a second season. In November, Shum married dancer Shelby Rabara.
Dianna Agron
Dianna Agron portrayed Quinn Fabray for the most part of the series. She was a regular during the first three seasons and she continued to make appearances in seasons four to six. In 2015, Agron starred in the movies Zipper, Tumbledown, and Bare. She was also one of the narrators in the documentary Unity. The actress also appeared in Sam Smith’s music video for I’m Not The Only One. In 2015, Agron played Dahlia in the play McQueen at the St. James Theatre in London.
Heather Morris
Heather Morris played Brittany S. Pierce for all six seasons, although she took a short break at the beginning of season five when she was on her maternity leave. Since then, she has starred in the short-film Horrible Parents in 2015, and will also appear in the upcoming short-film The Cleansing Hour. Morris also has two other movies coming out, Most Likely To Die and FolkHero & FunnyGuy. In 2015, the actress appeared on Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Comedy Bang! Bang!. She also starred in the television movie Romantically Speaking. Last year, Morris married Taylor Hubbell, and the two welcomed their second child, Owen Barlett Hubbell, last month.
Naya Rivera
Naya Rivera played Santana Lopez during all six seasons of the show. Since then, she has portrayed the recurring role of Blanca Alvarez in the third season Devious Maids. Rivera is also releasing her first book, which will be a memoir titled Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up. The book is set to be released this spring. In September last year, she and husband Ryan Dorsey welcomed their first son, Josey Hollis Dorsey.
Chord Overstreet
Chord Overstreet starred as Sam Evans from season two until the final episode. Since Glee, he has starred in the movie Fourth Man Out as Nick. The singer and actor has also shared his own music on his YouTube page. In December last year, Overstreet signed a recording contract with Safehouse Records. He is currently working on his debut album. At the moment, he is running a campaign with Trout Unlimited to save the trout.
Darren Criss
Darren Criss portrayed Blaine Anderson from the second season until the end of the show. Since then, he has had recurring roles on Transformers: Robots in Disguise and American Horror Story: Hotel. Criss also landed the role of Hedwig Robinson in the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Recently, he co-headlined a Broadway-themed concert tour with Betsy Wolfe, accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra. They performed at The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and Roy Thomson Hall. In 2015, Criss won a Broadway.com Award for Favorite Replacement for his role as Hedwig. He was also nominated for an Emmy for his original song This Time, which was featured in the final episode of Glee. Although he didn’t win the Emmy, he won the Hollywood Music in Media Award for the same song. Criss also won the Experience Award at Giffoni Film Festival last year.
Becca Tobin
Becca Tobin portrayed cheerleader Kitty Wilde from season four until the end of the show. Since then, she has guest-starred on NCIS: Los Angeles and Dropping the Soap. Tobin also stars as Jessica in the television film Before You Say I Do. Since December 2015, Tobin has co-hosted the podcast The Ladygang, former titled Fempire, alongside Keltie Knight and Jac Vanek. Each week on the Ladygang podcast a celebrity guest joins the girls for a raw, honest and hilarious look at what life is really like under the bright lights of Hollywood. Celebrity guests will also help the girl gang answer life’s burning questions from listeners.
Melissa Benoist
Melissa Benoist portrayed Marley Rose during the fourth and fifth season of Glee. Since then, she has starred in the films, Whiplash, Danny Collins, The Longest Ride, and Band of Robbers. She is also starring in the upcoming movies Low Riders alongside Eva Longoria, Billy Boy alongside husband and former Glee co-star Blake Jenner, and Oxford alongside Sam Heughan. Benoist is currently playing the lead character on the show Supergirl, where critics have praised her performance.
