Review: Olly Murs: 2019 Tour At The Nottingham Motorpoint Arena
On Monday 6th May, Olly Murs performed at the Nottingham Motorpoint Arena, in the first of his two shows there. This was a part of his 2019 ‘All the Hits Tour’, celebrating his ten years in the music industry.
The first thing we are going to say is that he put on an amazing show as always.
Olly Murs’ support act, Rak-Su, took to the stage first and performed a few of their songs. They performed a few of their new songs and even performed a song that is going to be released in a couple of weeks. Just like everyone in that arena, Rak-Su’s music got us in the mood for dancing.
After Rak-Su had left the stage, everyone watched as the final preparations for Olly Murs to come on stage were made.
We all know that Olly does not like to make his entrance boring. As a result of this, he started his show in the audience.
The first song Olly sang was ‘Moves’. We think this song sounded amazing live. However, there was a twist, he did a Medley of ‘Moves’, and one of Ed Sheeran’s hit songs ‘Shape of You’.
Then Olly sang, ‘Feel the Same’, which is his most recent single, taken from his studio album, ‘You Know I Know’.
The next two songs he sang were ‘Kiss Me’ and ‘Maria’. At this point, we were probably singing along a bit too loudly.
He then sang ‘You Don’t Know Love’, and after that, he sang his album title track ‘You Know I Know’.
We thought that it was important to note when he spoke about his mental health struggles before singing ‘Talking to Myself’, Olly urged fans to speak up about their mental health if they were having a hard time with it. He went on to say, “If this song helps one person in this room today, then I have done my job”. Although Olly made a mistake at the start for the song, he restarted the song as he would rather his fans to hear the song sung correctly.
Afterwards, he sang his X Factor audition song ‘Superstition’, by Stevie Wonder. Before singing it there were some of the movies from his 10 years projected on the tour visuals. We found it so emotional since he has achieved so much since he walked out on The X Factor stage.
Olly then sang ‘Thinking of me’, and then sang the chorus of One Direction’s ‘That’s What Makes You Beautiful’. He then sang ‘I Wanna Be Like You’, a song from the jungle book that he sang with Robbie Williams.
He then sang ‘That Girl’, and because of this song, he is actually bigger than Drake in China.
His next two songs were his first ever single ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’, and ‘Heart Skips a Beat’.
He then sang ‘Dear Darlin’, in which he dedicated it to the people who have passed away or left. Also saying that everyone could take a moment to just look up and think if they wanted to.
He also sang ‘Freed From Desire’ by Gala. After this, he sang ‘Up’. His final three songs of the night were, ‘Troublemaker’, ‘Wrapped Up’, and ‘Dance With Me Tonight’. Overall we believe this is one of Olly’s best tours yet.
